Day Three of furlough from work and it looks like I might actually get to enjoy the rest of the week. Katherine sailed through adenoid surgery with only a little discomfort right when she woke up. Today she appears to be nearly 100%, which is amazing.
Unfortunately, the rest of the family has also gotten sick […]

I have a secret
June 9th, 2009 · 3 Comments
No, I’m not pregnant. Gosh, ya’ll always jump to that conclusion.
The secret is that I’m considering going back to Weight Watchers, but doing the online version this time. I know it’s a great program and I know how to “work it.” I just have to make a committment and there is no better way than […]

My friends made me blog this…
April 22nd, 2009 · 2 Comments
I got some funny looks at the local grocery store today, probably not the first or last time. I was being silly with the kids and tend to say things without thinking when we’re just hanging out, acting silly. I should curb that impulse at the grocery store.
Anyway, we were checking out and I asked […]

An odd, odd night
February 8th, 2009 · 5 Comments
We popped downtown on Friday night to check out an art gallery where my husband has some work. It was an exciting night on several fronts- seeing his work there was wonderful and going downtown is a special treat for us. We rarely go “to the city” unless there is a special reason.

( And yes, there is an ulterior motive to my […]

Proof of Our Weirdness
November 24th, 2008 · 5 Comments
You need look only as far as the comments on the last post to see proof of my family’s weirdness. Both my mom and sister listed their favorite Thanksgiving dish as “death salad.” It’s one of mine, too, and it’s only when we talk about it in public that I see how weird it must […]

Gobble Gobble

We’re counting down to Thanksgiving around here. We’re looking forward to seeing my family, especially my niece and nephew, and enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. On Thanksgiving night, we’ll be excited to welcome the husband’s family into town, and we have a fun few days planned with them.
But what I’m really looking forward to is […]

Fourth of July
July 7th, 2008 · 1 Comment
The fourth of July around here is much like a family reunion, or a mid-summer Christmas. We all get together and hang out on the lake, enjoying the warm weather and visiting families and friends that we don’t often see during the year. When I was growing up every fourth of July was spent on […]
